Connectivism

We have read the article of George Siemens "Connectivism: A Learning Theory for the Digital Age" . But Pløn Verhagen from University of Twente gave him a critque. Pløn W. Verhagen wrote a comment Connectivism: a new learning theory?. In response to the critque, George Siemens has written a meandering article Connectivism: Learning theory or Past Time of the Self-Amused.
Hope we can understand this theory better after his first article.

6 Billion Others

6 Billion Others is a site which puts the same simple but meaningful questions to people from all over the world and films their responses. I think it is the best authentic material for students to listen, to watch. All people in the interview speak their monther tongue, the videos are subtiled with English. When you watch them, you feel so real, touched.
Sharing it with your students, ask them the same question and to find how they will response, how people in the world will response. I definitely will use this website to increase students' learning motivation.

Right? Wrong?

When I saw this image, I thought of teaching. Teaching is not judging. Sometimes, teachers like to put labels on students: A is smart. B is a trouble. Do not judge your students. Learning is just a part of their life. They are talent in many ways.

Blog, I like it.

The rapid development of information techology has created a good digital environment. Internet is changing the size of the transmission of information and communication means, which has infiltrated into every aspect of our lives and timely increased personal information capturing ability. Social software makes networking applications becoming more and more humane and popular. Blog is one of the social softwares, which is not new to me, I've used it as my personal online diary for two years. This new blog is set up for my teaching world. I'm a new fish in the teaching pond.
I want to use this blog as a platform for my future students to exchange their ideas. For example, I can set it as a discussion board for them to discuss questions, to share learning experiences, etc. I can provide students with interesting authentic learning material links. After class, they can go over these useful materials to increase their motivation. Let's see, I come up with an idea as homework that let student look at the following short clip and then write a stroy and post it on my blog. In doing so, all classmates can share their stroies and have fun!
Now I want to use this blog to share some useful teaching materials with others.
